Supporting the development of small and medium enterprises is one of the main priorities of the EU in Georgia. This support also includes the promotion of business clusters in various sectors of the country’s economy. Cluster development allows small and medium-sized companies to partner with other industry players to become more competitive and create more jobs. The “Clusters for Development” project, funded by the European Union and the German government, GIZ (German Society for International Cooperation), serves this purpose. The project promotes sustainable business clusters in the construction, clothing and tourism sectors, and through its efforts, the Georgian Building Materials Cluster (GCMC) has already been established.
